The next few weeks will be a great time to visit Tama County as many communities are hosting fabulous events.
The Tama County Fair runs from Wednesday, July 17 through Sunday, July 21 in Gladbrook. 200 youth from 10 county 4-H club organizations and 3 local FFA chapters have prepared more than 1,500 exhibits for the fair. Dysart will be having Old Iron Days on Friday & Saturday, July 26-27. There will be vintage equipment on display, a car show, tractor cruise, flea market & farmers market, kids activities, music, and a giant tenderloin supper. The Bohemian Plum Festival in Clutier will be Friday & Saturday, August 2-3. Barefoot Becky will be playing at 7pm on August 2 and Storm Seymour will play at 12:30 pm on August 3. The 99th Annual Meskwaki Indian Powwow will be Thursday through Sunday, August 8 – 11. There will be tribal ceremonial dances at 1:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. each day, colorful native regalia, arts, crafts & exhibits. The Traer Winding Stairs Festival, “Pirate Fest”, will be Thursday through Saturday, August 8-10. Activities include a 5k run/walk, talent show, petting zoo, cooking contest, kids inflatables, parade, live music.
