A few minutes ago, the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission approved a casino licence for Lyons County, but not for Tama, Wapello, or Webster Counties. The decision was unanimous.
The most dominantly cited reason for this decision to not allow a second casino in Tama County at this time was lack of secured financing and viability of proposed strategy in accordance to the Commission’s research and expectations.
Two of the five Commissioners once again pointed out in their public comments the breathtaking topography of the Tama County Bohemian Alps area. They expressed their hopes that all the intelligence and work that has gone into this application will come to fruition with the area’s natural beauty being optimized in some way shape or form.
