Rural Halloween Treats: Check out the live entertainment options this weekend all over Tama County

Halloween is not just a time for kids to indulge. This Saturday night the whole family is invited to come out and  play. And Tama County Convention and Visitors Bureau is excited that in addition to our local residents, visitors from Chicago, Des Moines, Iowa City, Cedar Falls, Dennison and even Africa will be coming over to enjoy live rural entertainment options. So what are some of the options:

MURDER MYSTERY DINNER
SAT. OCT. 30 6 – 9 P.M.
MONTOUR, IOWA
If you enjoy solving mysteries and enjoy being a part of the action, come help solve the murder at Whiskey Bottom. This real Tama County mystery from 1929 has never been solved, but that may all change at the estate sale full of characters, and good old-fashioned Tama County food and hospitality. Cost: $25

SHOCK OF HIS LIFE & PUMPKIN STUFFERS
FRI-SUN OCT 29-31
DYSART, IOWA
If sitting back and enjoying the action on stage is more your speed you can check out Dysart Community Theatre’s Wolfcreek Players. This Halloween they will present two one-act plays: Shock of His Life and Pumpkin Stuffers. Cost: $5

KUPKA CULTURAL CENTER FALL GALA
SAT. OCT 30
, 7 P.M.
TRAER, IOWA
And what would Halloween be without live music?  Vocalist Kevin Wood lives in Chicago and performs all over the nation, but on Halloween he comes back to delight his hometown with a performance featuring a wide range of music, from opera to show tunes. The concert will be followed by fancy desserts and beverages. Cost: $10

OLD TIME GOSPEL SHOW
SAT. OCT 30, 7 P.M.
TOLEDO, IOWA
Live old-time music in a Historic Opera House is of course also an option. This Halloween concert will star Johnson Strings, Liberty Baptist Singers, County Line, Press On, John Finical; Emceed by Harlan Dirks. A freewill donation will be taken to benefit the Wieting’s 100 year renovation project.
