In partnership with Black Hawk and Benton Counties, Tama County outdoor sports enthusiasts have figured out how to organize and enjoy the rural winter landscape to its fullest. Over the past few years they have added volunteers and connected routes for snowmobilers and now just about every city in Tama County can be accessed by snowmobile to bring city dwellers in from the cold to enjoy unique small town hospitality. HOW WE GOT THE IDEA: By starting a club to bring members together to accomplish the goal of a great trail system to connect local communities to surrounding communities throughout Iowa that already have a trail system. By connecting to adjacent club trails we are able to travel throughout Iowa and surrounding states.
OUR GREATEST CHALLENGE: Getting a groomer to provide safe trails to bring travelers in that aren’t as fortunate to have the trail system we have.
HOW WE OVERCAME IT: Active club members and the support of local communities and businesses to show the state we are here to bring tourists in to support Iowa. With our groomer we can offer the trail system to accomplish this.
ADVICE TO OTHERS: You need a lot of members that are willing to put their time in to do the extras to stand out above the rest.
WHAT IS NEXT: Add more members and local support to attract more travelers to come use our trail system and to support our local businesses. In order to do this we need a lot of active members and the support of the local communities, land owners, and businesses. For more information click www.tricountysnow.com
