Investors took note when a radio station with a range of reaching an approximate 1.2 million listeners in 3 metro markets came available on the market. What was especially remarkable was the differentiation strategy that sets the new station apart from other media in the area. And the professional talent they recruited to the Tama County area from all over the US. Co-owner Manuel Villagrana explains. Remind me – what are the EDIES
HOW WE DID IT: The project started when we found out that there was an opportunity purchase KZAT, an oldies format radio station. We thought that the Hispanic population was growing in this area, and we would like to bring Spanish music in to it. Our mission is to inform, entertain, and serve the community.
HOW WE GOT THE IDEA: Everything starts with a conversation between Rigo Lopez and me, Manuel Villagrana (owners). We were just talking about the great opportunity to have a Spanish radio station, and we both agreed that there was a need for the Hispanic people in Tama, Marshalltown, and surrounding areas.
OUR GREATEST CHALLENGE: To complete our main goal, to inform, serve, entertain, and get into peoples’ house or work.
HOW WE OVERCAME IT: Doing things the right way, improve our communication service and format day to day.
ADVICE TO OTHERS: We all have dreams, but the most important thing is not just to dream. You have to go for it and work hard is the only way!!!
WHAT IS NEXT: Our future plan is to increase our signal; we would like to have a bigger coverage area. For more information click www.radioz95fm.com
