Through collaborative leadership we supplied a pipeline of $812 million in new capital investment projects to strengthen and diversify the assets in Iowa. But beyond big number private-sector prospects we also work with the progressive small businesses, nonprofits, civic leaders, workforce, education institutions, utilities, transportation, housing, etc to maximize productivity and long-term prosperity in our evolving economic landscape.

U.S. Highway 30 Update: Let’s Talk Safety

U.S. Highway 30 is the longest road in the State of Iowa running a distance of 331 miles from the Mississippi to Missouri River connecting Chicago and Omaha metros. Over half a million Iowa residents live in the 12 counties along it, and the overall population growth is exceeding the state’s growth. That and other continued economic growth means the traffic counts are continually increasing. Too often that also means an increase in crashes, especially fatal on the two-lane sections. Segments of U.S. 30 have more than 175 crashes per hundred million vehicle miles traveled, while the statewide average is 122 crashes per hundred million vehicle miles traveled. (1)

A number of opportunities are coming up to communicate appreciation for the progress in increasing safety on U.S. Highway 30 to date and to encourage continued investment into four-laning the last few remaining high risk sections that switch to 2-lanes. Click here for more statistics and facts on U.S. Highway 30 in Iowa.
