In 2010 339 residents from Tama County and partner counties, Hardin, Marshall and Poweshiek benefitted directly from the newly created nonprofit Housing Trust Fund organization to improve the housing stock in of our region. And neighbors benefitted too because the investments raised values or diminished deterioration of our housing stock baseline by targeting more vulnerable properties in our community.
Now applications opens for the second year with a few minor changes to serve needs in first time home buyer, landlords and developers to support housing safety and affordability for residents (especially those who are elderly, disabled, or of low to moderate income). The program also includes an educational component to maximize sustainability of the Housing Trust fund investments. Over $317K has been raised matching state to local contributions 5:1. To check the updated qualifying median income levels and household size eligibility guidelines you can download a copy of the application by clicking 2011 Region 6 Housing Trust Fund Applications. You can also pick up a paper copy at your local city hall or Tama County Economic Development office. Applications will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis.
