Historic Preservation Update: Historians from all over the state spending more time in Tama County, Iowa

This weekend thousands of people traveled to Tama County, Iowa to experience a friendship tradition that is almost 100 years old: The Meskwaki Powwow. But Tama County is just getting warmed up for the upcoming list of historic preservation events to follow over the next few weeks. Tama County Historic Preservation will also be extending a hand in friendship, welcoming historians from all over Iowa for a number of educational, celebratory and planning events including a 2-day mini state conference in Clutier, Iowa. And you are invited too.

    Two-day workshop Sep 23 & 24. Cost $30 for one day; $40 for both days.
  7. Using Facebook & the internet for historic preservation (Toledo, Iowa)
    Evening workshop. First Wednesday in Nov or Dec. No cost.
  8. Meskwaki Cultural Museum and Library (Meskwaki Nation)
    Grand opening TBA. Soft opening now M-F 9-3 p.m.
  9. Preservation Workshop  (Vinton, Iowa)
    How to fix and finance repairs to older buildings. Mon Aug 22, 6:30-8:30pm
  10. Progress and strategy with historic property surveys and nomination to the National Register of Historic Places.
