Heath Kellogg was raised on a farm near Montour and returned to become Tama County’s Executive Director of Economic Development in May 2012. As director, he leads development in creating demand for Tama County’s resources, products, and services; educating residents about the programs and tools available to start new businesses or expand existing businesses; and coordinating with public and private entities to invest in the county’s economy.
Heath has extensive experience as a strategic business owner, having successfully started and operated several companies. Most recently Heath founded PUREwork, Inc. (A clean technology startup that offered businesses pay-as-you-go virtual workforce) and before that he co-founded E-valuate (a web-based human resource tool that eliminated performance appraisals). Prior to starting those companies, Heath spent a number of years in corporate marketing and sales development working with market leaders in agriculture, manufacturing and transportation.
In addition to his business experience, Heath has a background in local community service as a member of the Newton Christian School board, and many years teaching youth Sunday school classes at two local churches. He has coached youth baseball, football, wrestling and he has served as Chairman of an Iowa based Vistage (a CEO development organization) board.
Kellogg holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the North Dakota State University of Fargo. He is married 20 plus years to his wife, Lana and they have three children: daughter Bailey, and sons Cody and Cael.
Joanne has been with Tama County Economic Development since May of 2001. Joanne is a native of Tama County, having grown up near Vining. She graduated from South Tama County High School and Hamilton Business College in Cedar Rapids, graduating from the executive secretarial program. She was a legal secretary in Cedar Rapids.
Joanne and her husband, Jerome, and daughters, Katie and Kylie, reside in rural Tama.
